Human Resources announces new learning and development workshops

HR will present four new workshops with Monica Gillette from Gillette Consulting:
Giving Constructive Criticism, Emotional Intelligence, Group Dynamics, and Cultivating
High-Performance Teams!  All workshops qualify for Staff Council’s Pie Challenge. All workshops are via Zoom. The following workshops are open to all employees, managers
and supervisors.

Upcoming workshops:

Giving Constructive Feedback

Description:  Whether you are responsible for leading a team and providing performance appraisals
or whether you just need to talk to a co-worker about missed expectations, giving
constructive feedback can be challenging. Using the text Radical Candor by Kim Scott,
this workshop will discuss the foundation of the Care Personally, Challenge Directly
framework and how supervisors and co-workers can use this model to share feedback
in the workplace. Participants will also have the opportunity to practice sharing
feedback in pairs utilizing practical scenarios.

Date & Time: 1 p.m. on Tuesday Nov. 16, 2021
This workshop qualifies for an “Interpersonal” slice in the Staff Council Professional Development Pie Challenge.

Emotional Intelligence

Description:  Emotions can be our greatest asset but without self-management and empathy, they
can also become our greatest liability. This workshop will highlight why emotional
intelligence is vital in the workplace and how your emotions and the emotions of others
increase your effectiveness. We will discuss strategies for managing your own emotions
as well as tips for how to recognize and empathize with others.

Date & Time: 11 a.m. Tuesday, Dec. 14, 2021
This workshop qualifies for an “Interpersonal” slice in the Staff Council Professional
Development Pie Challenge.

Group Dynamics

Description:  Every team comes with its own challenges, whether it’s a newly formed group or
a long-standing committee. Using the True Colors Framework, participants will gain
a better understanding of what drives the four dominant personalities in the workplace
and how to strategically pair teams to ensure group effectiveness. By understanding
ourselves and others better, leaders can help teams overcome common challenges that
arise from natural personality differences and values centers.
Prerequisite materials will be sent to those who register.

Date & Time:  11 a.m. Friday, Jan. 21, 2022
This workshop qualifies for a “Leadership” slice in the Staff Council Professional
Development Pie Challenge.

Cultivating High-Performance Teams

Description:  Every leader wants to help their team reach its full potential. High-performance
is not an outcome, but a by-product of mission, vision, and environment. This workshop
will help leaders and supervisors understand the role they play in the communication
of mission, creating a vision, and cultivating work environments to create highly
effective teams.

Date & Time:  1 p.m. Wednesday, Jan. 26, 2022
This workshop qualifies for a “Leadership” slice in the Staff Council Professional
Development Pie Challenge.
